Interventional Psychiatry at Avant

Explore additional options for your mental health care.

Living with ongoing mental health symptoms can be frustrating, especially when treatment has not provided the relief you hoped for. At Avant Interventional Psychiatry, we offer TMS Therapy, Spravato, and PRISM as options for patients whose needs may call for a different treatment approach.

Our team starts by understanding your symptoms, medical history, previous treatments, and goals. Together, we can explore whether an interventional treatment may be an appropriate part of your care.

What Is Interventional Psychiatry?

Interventional psychiatry is an area of mental health care that uses specialized treatments to influence brain activity and address psychiatric symptoms. These approaches may include magnetic stimulation, supervised medication treatments, and technology-assisted training that helps patients practice regulating brain activity.

Each treatment works differently and has its own eligibility requirements. Some may be considered when symptoms continue despite previous care, while others may complement an existing treatment plan.

Interventional care does not automatically replace medication management or therapy. Your provider will help you understand how a recommended treatment fits into your overall care.

Our Interventional Treatment Options

TMS Therapy

Transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS, uses magnetic pulses to stimulate targeted areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. Treatment takes place in the office while you are awake and does not require anesthesia. A consultation can help determine whether TMS is appropriate for your symptoms and treatment history.

Spravato®

Spravato is a prescription esketamine nasal spray for eligible adults with treatment-resistant depression. It is taken under healthcare supervision, with monitoring after each dose. Your provider will review your history and discuss whether this treatment may be appropriate.

PRISM

PRISM is a noninvasive neurofeedback treatment that uses an EEG sensor cap and a computer simulation to help patients practice regulating brain activity associated with PTSD. Treatment focuses on developing personal mental strategies and is used alongside other recommended care.

Could Interventional Psychiatry Be Right for You?

A consultation may be helpful if you are experiencing persistent symptoms, have not had enough improvement with previous treatments, or want to understand additional options.

Different treatments address different conditions. Your provider will consider your diagnosis, health history, current medications, previous treatment response, and preferences before making a recommendation. You do not need to know which treatment to choose before contacting us.

What to Expect

1. Discuss your experience

We’ll review your symptoms, how they affect daily life, and what you have already tried. Bring a current medication list and any available information about previous treatment.

2. Review your options

Your provider will explain treatments that may fit your needs, including potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and the time commitment involved.

3. Plan the next steps

If treatment is recommended, we’ll discuss the evaluation requirements, scheduling, and insurance or payment questions before you begin.

4. Monitor your progress

During treatment, your care team will assess your symptoms and response and discuss whether adjustments or ongoing care are needed
